FFL Transfer Policy

Overview

All firearms purchased from Boom Stick Outdoors must be shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder for transfer. Federal law prohibits the direct shipment of firearms to individuals. By placing an order for any firearm, you acknowledge and agree to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.

How the FFL Transfer Process Works

1. Place your order — Add the firearm to your cart and complete checkout through our BigCommerce-hosted checkout powered by Epic Merchant Systems.
2. Provide your FFL dealer — During or after checkout, provide the name, address, and phone number of your chosen FFL dealer. If you do not have one, use the ATF FFL Lookup Tool to find a dealer near you.
3. We verify and ship — We contact your FFL dealer to confirm their license is valid and current, then ship the firearm directly to them.
4. Complete the transfer — Visit your FFL dealer to complete the required ATF Form 4473, pass the NICS background check, and take possession of your firearm. Your dealer may charge a transfer fee (typically $15–$50).

Age Requirements

• Handguns: You must be at least 21 years of age to purchase a handgun under federal law.
• Long guns (rifles & shotguns): You must be at least 18 years of age under federal law. Some states require you to be 21 — check your local laws.
• Ammunition: Handgun ammunition requires the buyer to be 21+; rifle/shotgun ammunition requires 18+.

Your FFL dealer will verify your age during the transfer. Orders placed by individuals who do not meet the age requirements will be cancelled and refunded.

State & Local Restrictions

Certain states and localities have laws that restrict or prohibit the sale, possession, or transfer of specific firearms, magazines, or accessories. It is your responsibility to know and comply with all laws in your jurisdiction.

We cannot ship firearms or restricted accessories to the following states or jurisdictions where broad restrictions apply:

• California (various restrictions)
• Connecticut
• Delaware
• Hawaii
• Illinois (FOID required)
• Maryland
• Massachusetts
• New Jersey
• New York
• Washington, D.C.

Additional restrictions may apply to specific products in other states. If we are unable to ship an item to your location, we will notify you and issue a full refund.

Background Checks

All firearm transfers require a federal background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Your FFL dealer will conduct this check when you pick up your firearm. If you are denied or delayed, we will work with you and your FFL dealer on next steps. Denied transfers are subject to our standard return policy.

Cancellations & Returns

• Orders may be cancelled before shipment for a full refund.
• Once shipped, firearms may only be returned if they are defective or were shipped in error.
• Firearms that have been transferred to you through your FFL dealer cannot be returned to us — they must be transferred back through an FFL.
• A restocking fee of up to 15% may apply for non-defective returns.
